  • About Shazzy

    I’m an approachable therapist with over 30 years’ experience helping people navigate life’s challenges. My work is grounded in compassion, understanding, and lived experience, and I aim to create a safe, affirming space for every client.

    I work with individuals, couples, families, teenagers, children, people with disabilities, and NDIS participants — supporting them with a wide range of needs, including:

    • Workplace stress and conflict
    • Communication and relationship skills
    • Depression, anxiety, and stress management
    • Trauma (single incident or complex, including childhood trauma)
    • Autism, ADHD, PDA, and other neurodivergent experiences
    • Disability and chronic health conditions (including chronic pain, fatigue, and sensory or mobility challenges)
    • Self-esteem, identity, and confidence building

    I’m a proud LGBTQIA+ ally and always work in a person-centred, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming way.

    My Background

    I originally trained in the UK as a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse and later completed a Postgraduate Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy in Australia. I’m now undertaking a Master of Science in Psychology to deepen my research and clinical expertise.

    As someone who is autistic, ADHD, and PDA — and a wheelchair user living with chronic illnesses — I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work. As a parent of neurodivergent children, I understand the neurodivergent experience from multiple perspectives. My practice is strongly affirming, respecting and celebrating difference rather than trying to “fix” it.

    Having lived in many countries and spoken languages that aren’t my first, I bring patience and empathy to clients for whom English is a second language.

    I draw on a wide range of evidence-based therapies, tailoring my approach to each client’s needs. These include:

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
    • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
    • Mindfulness-based approaches (MBSR, Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy)
    • Collaborative Problem Solving and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
    • Family Therapy and Play Therapy
    • Motivational Interviewing
    • Non-Directive and Compassion-Focused Counselling
    • Group work and telehealth counselling
    • Gottman Level 1 & 2 Couples Therapy

    How I Work

    I collaborate closely with other professionals in your care network and can attend online meetings with schools, workplaces, or medical providers as needed.
    Above all, my goal is to walk alongside you — providing therapy that is supportive, practical, and affirming of who you are.
